Endoscopy information

There are 3 main types of endoscopy to look at the stomach and the bowel:-
Gastroscopy also called upper GI endoscopy or oesphago-gastro-duodenoscopy (OGD), to look at the food pipe (gullet) stomach and first part of the bowel beyond the stomach
Colonoscopy, to look at the large bowel (called the colon) or lower GI tract
Sigmoidoscopy, to look at the very first part of the colon without full bowel prep
